I love tofu and I’m always looking for new ways to cook it. This baked-style tofu is great if you want your tofu to be the main feature (the pattie style is more substantial). Serve over rice, or as part of entire Rainbow Bowl!

ingredients

  • 1 package extra firm tofu

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • juice of 1/2 a lime

  • 1 clove of garlic, chopped

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp olive oil, plus 1 tsp olive oil

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds

instructions

  1. Drain tofu from package and pat dry with paper towel.

  2. Cut tofu into desired “patties.”

  3. Whisk together soy sauce, lime juice, garlic, brown sugar, and olive oil.

  4. Pour mixture over tofu patties and let marinade at room temperature for 20 minutes (flipping once).

  5. In two shallow bowls, or plates, dip each tofu piece into the egg first and then sesame seeds (allowing excess marinade to drip off before dipping).

  6. Bake tofu at 350 degrees for 20 minutes (flipping once during baking). Ensure your pan is lightly coating with oil before cooking.

  7. For added crispiness, bake at 425 degrees for an additional 5 minutes.

  8. Serve immediately with rice, or as part of a Rainbow Bowl.
